Dance Expression:

It's all about having fun and loving movement. In this class we will encourage children to express themselves and experiment with different styles of dance through the use of fun music, lots of props, and tons of encouragement.  We will concentrate on building a foundation for the love of dance.

Pom:
5-7 year olds
8-11 year olds
11+ year olds

This type of dance focuses on sharp motions using pom pons for visual effect. Team work, synchronization, and creativity are stressed. Think of watching a living kaleidoscope! Style can vary greatly from one dance to the next. This is definitely a youth favorite.

Jazz:
5-7 year olds
8-11 year olds
11+ year olds
This style focuses on jazz moves that incorporate musical interpretation, synchronization, technical steps, visual effectiveness, variety of movements, skills and control. Portraying the emotion of a piece is a main goal of the dancers.

Hip Hop:
5-7 year olds
8-11 year olds
11+ year olds

Break all the rules of dance with these classes. This contemporary, upbeat style of dance focuses on isolations and popping of the body with attitude. "Tricks" are often incorporated into routines. Style ranges from street to pop with countless variations between. This highly athletic dance focuses on visual effectiveness and crowd appeal.

Leaps/Turns/Jumps: tryout prep class

Back by popular demand

This class focuses on perfecting the skills needed for tryouts for most area dance teams.  We've judged the tryouts, we know what they are looking for!  This class is designed for dancers in 6 grade and above who have the goal of dancing on an high school dance team.  Also a great class for rookie dancers that still need to work on their basic skills.

Dance Team Technique

New Class

This class is designed for both rookie dancers needing to polish technique as well as dancers looking toward future tryouts.   Curriculum includes: sharpness, arm and leg positions, basic jazz motions, high kick and hip hop technique.  At the same time we will be emphasizing the importance of stretched feet, turn out, posture, extensions, showmanship, attitude, formations, and more.  Coaches, this is the class you've been looking for.  We will teach them the basics that you don't have time for at practice!

Offseason Technique for high school Dance Teams

(leaps/turns/jumps for HS Dance Teams)

13+

Specifically designed for intermediate to advanced high school dance team members.  You should have the technique for a double pirrouette, switch leap, and toe touch down.  We will be building on your skills to learn more advanced leaps, turns, and jumps, as well as creative landings and skill combinations.  Class will be taught at a II/III level.  We recommend rookie dancers take a regular leaps/turns/jumps class and more advanced members take our extreme class.  Please call the studio if you are unsure what would be best for you.   -Offered 3rd trimester only.
Ballet Technique
Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace, precision, and control- it is the basis of all dance and a required class for all competitive dancers.  Our ballet technique classes are non-performance classes designed to give dancers a solid platform on which to build other styles of dance.  In our Beginner/Intermediate classes students will be introduced to the positions of the body, terminology, and basic steps stressing turnout, body lines, proper feet and hand positions, weights shifts, balance, concentration, and more.  Intermediate/Advanced classes are for students ready to build on these skills with more advanced rythms and combinations.  All classes will spend roughly half time at the bar and half in the center and across the floor.

PLEASE USE THIS GUIDE WHEN SIGNING UP FOR CLASSES.  THE POD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MOVE STUDENTS TAKING CLASSES AT THE INCORRECT LEVEL.

*Level I = For Beginner/Intermediate students.  Basic skills incorporated into routine- skills used in routine will be broken down and taught to the students.  Taught at a pace for every student- instructor will break down moves fully to help the beginner develop technique.   Routine develops at a steady pace.  Good choice for the younger students in an age bracket.  No pre-requisite for this class.

**Level II = For Intermediate/Advanced students.  Students are expected to have a grasp on basic skills and experience in the particular style to enter this class.  Should know technique for a pirouette, russian (toe touch), grand jete (split leap), and kicks-  will begin to develop these skills more fully and build on them to more advanced skills.  Choreography begins to be more intricate and classes will be taught at a slightly faster pace than level one.

***Level III = For Advanced Students.  Students are expected to have experience in the particular style of dance and have the ability to learn at a faster pace without frustration.  Mastery of basic skills as well as knowledge of more advanced skills is expected (switch leaps, turning leaps, double turns, capezios for example).  Choreography is intricate with fast transitions, tempo changes, and stylized movement.

Extreme Level = Advanced Students looking for an extra challenge.  These classes push the envelope and are taught at a very fast pace incorporating advanced skills.  Technique classes include advanced skill combinations.  Great class for students with the goal of trying out for a college team in the future.  Instructor approval required!

An adult version of a great classic. Using light resistance and toning exercises, we'll increase your strength and boost your flexibility. Walk out feeling great about yourself.
Reshape Your Shape:

Offered at two times during the week (must register for each class separately) this class is truly designed to live up to it's name. We will begin with cardio dance and work into stretching and toning exercises. The main goal is to increase your strength, stamina, and flexibility.  Reshape began as a class for "Mature Adults" for those slightly more advanced in their years (we use the term "mature" lightly here!)  However, this is truly a class that gives EVERY adult a great work out.  Instructors will give variations to the work out to meet the needs of the beginner to the advanced.  Give this one a try- it's definitely worth it!

Adult Hip Hop/Jazz:

We know you're out there. You always wished you would have taken dance and now you think it might be too late. Be assured, it's never too late! Come explore the basics of jazz and hip hop with other adults that have little to no dance experience. How far do you want to go?  We'll tailor this class to the students who take it. You think it looks like fun- wait until you try it.  Adult choreography set to adult music- this is not your child's dance class.

"Passion" for Dance:
Got a serious love for dance that you can't get out of your system? Hear a song with a great beat and immediately break into routine? Come share that passion with others just like you. Learn fun, contemporary, adult style (short) routines and rekindle the fire. We'll focus on a variety of styles and change it up every few weeks.  This class will be taught at at intermediate level.  Previous experience in dance is helpful but is not required.
